PACOFS: Brand Refresh (Personal Project)
Brand Identity Design
Arts and Culture
The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (PACOFS) holds deep cultural value in South Africa’s creative landscape, but its visual identity had fallen behind its legacy. This conceptual rebrand approached the refresh as a way to honour the past while designing for future audiences.
The challenge was to balance modernist restraint with expressive identity. Drawing from stage architecture, spotlight symmetry, and typographic strength, Portfolio Creative developed a bold, minimal system that centres structure and scale. The result is a personal passion project that reimagines PACOFS as a contemporary institution grounded, dignified, and unmistakably present.
The visual identity system includes a bold logomark, vibrant yet mature colour palette, and iconography designed for comprehension across literacy levels. On the product side, we developed a UX flow that simplifies complex topics through intuitive navigation, gamified rewards, and structured learning modules. The result is a platform that demystifies money, rewards progress, and builds confidence through design you can trust.
